An article I coauthored, “A Call to Action on Climate Change,” was published in the July/August 2022 issue of The Wildlife Professional (TWP). This article was part of TWP’s special focus issue on climate adaptation. My coauthors and I are members of The Wildlife Society‘s Climate Change and Sustainability Advisory Committee, a group I’m proud to be a part of as an early-career professional in the environmental sciences.
In the article, we describe climate change as an overarching threat to wildlife and human communities all over the world. We summarize some of the science explaining current human-caused climate crisis, recognizing that climate change is “an uncontrolled experiment” with dire consequences. We urge wildlife professionals and others to confront climate change through direct action and collaborations, and we offer some priority action items as examples. We also give some background about our committee and our objectives within and beyond The Wildlife Society.
I received permission to post the PDF copy of our article below, but I encourage you to subscribe to The Wildlife Professional, become involved in climate change action, or reach out with your questions and concerns.
